International renewables giant involved in local ManuFutures facility

Deakin

ManuFutures within the heart of Deakin University’s Geelong Innovation Precinct is incubating Australia’s manufacturing future.  With companies like Carbon Nexus who are a cutting-edge carbon fibre and composite research facility.

MEKS Solutions met with the director of Manufutures, Jason Steinwedel, in late September at Deakin University. Jason explained the business model and facilities available for enterprises during their market penetration and growth phase.  MEKS Solutions had the opportunity to discuss their business plans and capabilities including project management, maintenance, contract management, operational support and workshop facilitation based on our experience.

Not long after this visit, Vestas announced the establishment of the Vestas Renewable Energy Hub in Geelong.  A multi-disciplinary industry development initiative that will support and expand the Victorian renewable energy sector.

Part of this initiative includes forming a partnership with Deakin University’s Carbon Nexus to research the next generation carbon fibre to use in making wind turbine blades longer, stronger and more productive.

Great to see the big players in renewable energy getting involved with local technology and innovation!!
