MEKS Solutions were involved in Balance of Plant negotiations in Wellington during March for the new Turitea wind farm located close to Palmerston North. This 33 turbine project is being developed by Mercury in their entry into New Zealand wind generation.
The site is in the top 5% of wind sites in the world, which will suit the Vestas V112-3.6MW machines with a hub height of 69m.
Environmental and noise management were of utmost concern throughout the project negotiations to minimise the impact on such a magnificent part of the world.
Commissioning is planned for late 2020, supporting New Zealand to achieve its target of 100% renewable energy by 2035. MEKS Solutions wishes Mercury and Vestas a very successful implementation and start-up.
